MASON CITY: Laurine M. Wasicek, 88 of Mason City, died Saturday, October 25, 2008 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday (October 28, 2008) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave with Pastor Kathy Graves of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be held two hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held in the Bohemian Cemetery in Plymouth. Memorials may be directed to the Laurine M. Wasicek memorial fund.

She was born January 9, 1920 in Mason City, Iowa the daughter of Frank and Julia (Straka) Barney. She attended schools in Mason City, graduating in 1938. She was married to Fred Fritz Wasicek on October 19, 1941 in Mason City. She took care of her home and her children while her husband was co-owner of Mason City Glass and Paint for over thirty years. In Laurines spare time she enjoyed fishing at Clear Lake, crocheting, and playing cards, especially cribbage. One of her favorite pastimes was dancing, she loved dancing while her husband played in his band. For many years she and her husband wintered in McAllen, TX . She enjoyed the time she spent with her family. She was a former member of the Eagles Lodge in Mason City. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sons, Dennis Wasicek and wife Margery of Mason City, Damon Wasicek and wife Jeannett of Mason City and Donald Wasicek and Robin Espinosa of Mason City; grandchildren, Christine, Kimberly and Tony Wasicek of Mason City, Kelli and Jennifer Wasicek of Forest City, Francesca Wasicek of Mason City; many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred Fritz Wasicek in 1996, and two sisters.
