LaVonne R. Dority

LaVonne R. (Waslick) Dority, 85, of Mason City, died Monday, April 23, 2012 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Friday, April 27, 2012 at the Rolling Acres Christian Reformed Church, 340 20th St. SW with Rev. Jack Vanden Heuvel, officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, Mason City. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa or the Rolling Acres Christian Reformed Church. LaVonne was born September 30, 1926 in Mason City the daughter of Melvin and Marguerite (Beal) Eckard. LaVonne married John Waslick and the two of them had five children. Following John’s death in 1981, LaVonne married Vendel “Bud” Dority. LaVonne worked at Osco Drug, Bergo’s, and the Park Clinic. She enjoyed sewing, putting puzzles together, playing cards, and word search books. LaVonne enjoyed attending church, most recently at Rolling Acres Christian Reformed Church. LaVonne is survived by her daughters, Garianne Fuller and Devvy Waslick of Mason City; sons, Jay Waslick of Mason City, and Johnnie Waslick of Clear Lake; stepsons, Lee Dority of Austin, Minnesota, and Ted Dority of Mason City; son-in-law, Ronnie Smith of Mason City; 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren; sisters, Jean (Loren) Moore, Norma Meyer, Donna (Wes) Holmes, and Patty Hall; brothers, Keith (Darla) Eckard, and Bill (Donna) Eckard; many nieces, nephews, and special friends. LaVonne was preceded in death by her first husband, John Waslick, and second husband, Vendel “Bud” Dority; daughter, Linda Smith; brothers, Jerry and Melvin Eckard Jr.
