Kimberly S. Wendel (Kim), 55, of Clear Lake, died Friday, November 10, 2017 at home. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2:00 p.m. at VFW Post 733, 1603 South Monroe Avenue in Mason City, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made in Kimberly’s memory to Patriots for Pets- Rescue Shelter, 805 North 40th Street, Clear Lake, Iowa.

Kim was born May 16, 1962 in Mason City, the daughter of George and Jeannine (Lucken) Wendel. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1980, and continued her education at North Iowa Area Community College, Mason City. Kim worked at IMT Cornelius, Salisbury Labs, and Express Services and for the last 20 years farming with the family business. She enjoyed bicycling, swimming, scuba diving, snow and water skiing, traveling, rock concerts and outdoor events. Kim had a passion for watching movies, flower and vegetable gardening, and her precious pet companions. Most of all she loved farming and taking care of the cows. She loved getting together with her friends, which were considered family to her.

Kim is survived by her two sisters, Tanya Wendel and husband Thomas Norris of Mason City. Valerie Wendel-Filkins and husband Lyle Filkins of Mason City. A cousin (which was more like a brother) Steven Wendel and friend Jill Lutcavish of Mason City. Several Aunts and Uncles, Lila (Wendel) Perry of Scottsdale, AZ., Mary Ann (Wendel) Baker and husband Jerome of Mason City, Loyola “Sherry” (Wendel) Bohnsack of Mason City, Paula (Wendel) Chambers and husband John of Waterloo, Ia., Harold Wendel Jr. and wife Doris of Mason City, Carolyn (Lucken) Rushton and husband Gerald of Iowa City, Ia. She is also survived by close friend Lorri “Mert” (Winters) Davis and husband Ed of Mason City. Special friend Jeff Yezek of Clear Lake, and her Pug dog, Cheeka.

She was proceeded in death by her parents George and Jeannine, her grandparents, Harold Wendel and wife Liola (Kilfoil) Wendel, Palmer Lucken and wife Bernice (Luckason) Lucken. Her ashes will be placed at Memorial Park gravesite with her parents.
