MASON CITY Keith E. King, 78, of Mason City, died Friday, October 14, 2011, at his home, surrounded by his family. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with Pastor Kathy Graves of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Per Keiths wishes, he was cremated and there will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the Keith E. King Memorial Fund, in care of the family.
Keith was born February 1, 1933, in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Merlin and Wilma (Borchardt) King. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1951. Keith served his country in the Army as a Corporal from 1953 to 1955. Throughout his life he was a hard worker, dedicating 45 years of his life to Holcim Cement plant. When he wasnt working he enjoyed making changes around the yard, gardening, and building birdhouses in the garage. Keith also enjoyed his cars. He was known to leave for an oil change and return with a new car. His grandchildren were his great joy and he loved to watch them play sports. When he wasnt watching them, he was watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, Minnesota Twins, or an old country western movie. Keith was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a former member of the Moose.
Keith is survived by his wife of 35 years, Bonnie King, of Mason City; four sons, David (Pam) King, Jimmy (Kathy) King, Mitchell (Darlene) King, Dion (Sandy) King, all of Mason City; two daughters, Nancy King of Mason City, Sena (John) Amos of Des Moines, IA; three step children, Kai Smed of Vancouver, WA, Dr. Rodney (Barb) Smed of Waukon, IA, Nina (David) Bennett of Vancouver, WA; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; three brothers, Duane Bud (Carol) King of Mason City, Therald (Janet) King of Columbus, OH, Douglas (Jeanne) King of Mason City; one sister, Gwen (Herman) Cory of Mason City; sister in-law, Carol King; and beloved pet, Echo Ezer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jerry L. King.

Memorials may be directed to the Keith E. King Memorial Fund, in care of the family.

Visitation:
Per Keiths wishes, he was cremated and there will be no visitation.

Service:
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with Pastor Kathy Graves of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating.
