Karen Kay Johnson

Mason City Karen K. Johnson, 57, of Mason City, died Sunday, September 18, 2011, at her home. Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 22, 2011, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with Rev. Craig E. Steimel of St. Joseph Catholic Church officiating. Per Karens request, she will be cremated and there will be no viewing. Memorials may be directed to the Karen K. Johnson Memorial Fund in care of the family.

Karen was born October 10, 1953, in Britt, Iowa, the daughter of Gilbert and Dorothy (Mulert) Johnson. She graduated high school from Newman Catholic High School in Mason City in 1972 before graduating from NIACC in 1974. She worked for the Mayo Clinic from 1974 to December of 2004. She loved traveling to Hawaii and Cancun, Mexico. She enjoyed cats and watching sports, especially the Minnesota Vikings and Twins, and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Karen is survived by her brother, Tim (Susan) Johnson of West Des Moines, IA; two nephews, Chris (Deb) Johnson and their children, Matthew and Ryan of Rochester, MN, and Scott (Cassie) Johnson of Fond du Lac, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother, Ronald.
