Jerry Dean Heizelman, 59, of Mason City, died Monday, April 18, 2011, at his home. Jerrys wishes were to be cremated. Services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Jerry Heizelman memorial fund, in care of the family. Jerry was born December 11, 1951, in Mason City, the son of Edward Alex and Lovie Grace (Anderson) Heizelman. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1970. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1970 1976. Jerry was a conductor/brakeman for the Milwaukee Railroad for 10 years. He loved working for the railroad, but due to layoffs, he had to switch careers. In 1983, Jerry became a Hearing Aid Dispenser with his ex brother-in-law, Jeff Schultz, until his death. Jerry enjoyed his family and life. He loved to play golf with his golfing buddies at the Highland Park Golf Course. The prides of his life were his daughter Melissa, his grandson Zander, and the house his dad built for him in 1980. Jerry is survived by his daughter: Melissa Heizelman of Mason City, one grandson: Zander of Mason City; one sister: Dixie Brinkman (David) of Greene, IA; one brother: Dennis Heizelman of Arizona; four nephews: Jason Brinkman (Julie) of Cedar Falls, IA, Kurt Brinkman (Liz) of Greene, Ia, Troy and Scott Heizelman, both of Arizona; three great nieces: Alexis and Erika Brinkman of Greene, Ia, Danica Brinkman of Cedar Falls, Ia; and one great nephew: Dalton Brinkman of Cedar Falls, Ia. He was preceded in death by his parents.
