Jeanine C. Marsters, 57, of Mason City, died Thursday, May 12, 2011, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, MN. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at St. James Lutheran Church, 1148 4th St. S.E., with Pastor Paul Nelson and Pastor Jeni Bohls officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Monday, May 16, 2011, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Inurnment will be at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Jeanine C. Marsters Nursing Scholarship, NIACC Attn: Molly Knoll, 500 College Drive, Mason City, IA 50401. Jeanine was born June 2, 1953, in Norway, MI, the daughter of Peter Flip Flaminio and Norma Sam (Mattson) Petersen. In 1971, she graduated from Duluth East High School in Duluth, MN. She served in the U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman/physical therapist during the Vietnam War. She was re-enlisted on the deck of the USS Iowa before it was decommissioned. On March 18, 1977, Jeanine married Jeffrey Marsters in Philadelphia, PA. Following Jeffreys military discharge, the couple moved to Mason City, where Jeanine obtained a degree in nursing from NIACC. Jeanine became an RN, and later received her Bachelors Degree from the University of Iowa. She taught part-time in a clinical environment at NIACC, until ill health forced her to stop. Jeanine enjoyed quilting, reading, knitting, needlework, crossword puzzles, cooking, and most of all spending time with her family. She also enjoyed her dogs, her granddogs, and grandcat. Jeanine loved to write, and published a book Make Me Laugh (A Cancer Survival Story). She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church. Jeanine is survived by her husband of 34 years: Jeffrey Marsters of Mason City; her children: Jennifer Guyer and husband Jay of North Potomac, MD, and Justin Marsters and wife Meghan of Coon Rapids, MN; grandson: Adam Guyer, and one grandchild on the way (Claire Jeanine or William Jeffrey); her father: Peter Flip Flaminio and his wife Pat (Mom) of Pleasant Prairie, WI; siblings: Gregg Mahalich and wife Teri of Minnetonka, MN, Freda Carlson and her husband Keith of Esko, MN, Ellen Flaminio of Gardner, MA, Pete Flaminio and wife Bobbie of Iron Mountain, MI, Kathy Fry and husband Ron of Huntingdon, PA, Michael Flaminio and wife Jennifer of Havana, FL, Jason Flaminio and wife Clarissa of Pleasant Prairie, WI, and Scott Flaminio of Winston-Salem, NC; father-in-law: Charles Marsters of Scarborough, ME. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother: Norma Sam Petersen; one brother: Michael Joseph Mahalich; and mother-in-law: Carolyn Marsters
