Jean J. Erickson, 81, of 704 S. Kentucky Avenue, died Friday, December 4, 2009 at home. Memorial services will be held 10:30 AM Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. James Magelssen officiating. There will be no visitation. Private family inurnment services will take place in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank.\r\n

Jean was born December 30, 1927 in Manly, Iowa the daughter of Wayne D. and Arlene H. (Jirsa) Radcliff. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1945. Following graduation, Jean moved to Washington DC to work for the Army Corp of Engineers in the Pentagon. She returned to Mason City where she worked for Mier Wolf Furniture Store. Jean met her future husband, Gailerd, while working there. Jean and Gailerd were married June 10, 1947 in Mason City. Jean was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Women of Trinity. She was past president of Toastmistresses, enjoyed playing Bridge, reading, spending time with her children and grandchildren and was a volunteer at Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank for 25 years. \r\n

Jean is survived by her husband, Gailerd E. Erickson of Mason City; sons, Gary (Rita) Erickson of West Des Moines, Dennis (Nancy) Erickson of Mason City; daughter, Deanna (Kevin) Boehmer of Mason City: niece, Debbie (Willie) Scott of Mason City, who was raised by Gailerd and Jean; 7 grandchildren, Heather Rinderknecht, Mandelin Rowland, Crystal Egland, Rachel Erickson, Brenda Dorenkamp, Cole and Claire Boehmer; 7 great grandchildren; brothers, Dale (Iona) Radcliff of Mason City, Cecil (Arleen) Radcliffe of Clear Lake, sisters-in-law, Michiko Radcliff of Bloomington, Minnesota, Lauretta Radcliff of Minneapolis, Minnesota; numerous other nieces and nephews. \r\n
\r\n
Jean was preceded in death by her parents and 4 brothers, Harold, Rodney, Kenneth and William.
