MASON CITY: James Boyd Arnold, 75, of Mason City, died Sunday, August 23, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Per Jim’s request, his body was cremated and has requested no services. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Jim Arnold Memorial Fund. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com.
Jim was born March 16, 1940 in Mason City the son of A. Boyd and Lucille (Saenger) Arnold. He graduated from Mason City High School. Jim married Marilyn Marshall May 13, 1961 in Mason City. Jim worked for Al & Dick’s Wrecker Service and the city of Mason City as a meter man. On May 11, 1972, Jim began working as a police officer for the city of Mason City. After 26 years of service, he retired in September of 1994. Jim worked many odd jobs to help care for his family and special needs daughter, Tina.
Jim is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marilyn of Mason City; 4 daughters, Tammy (Phil) Pardun of Mason City, Tracy (Danny) Shackleton of Plymouth, Tina Arnold of Waterloo and Julie Black of Mason City; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sisters, Kathleen, Dorothy, Marilyn, Shirley, Jackie and Mary; twin brother, Pete; sister-in-law, Marlys (Chuck) Pemble; brothers-in-law, Merle (Beverly) Marshall and Mike Marshall; special friends, Linda & Mearle Rasmusson, Tom Stalker and canine friend Brystol, who was more Jim’s dog than Tom’s and Nancy Sims; many nieces, nephews and to many more friends to mention.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Peggy; father & mother in-law, Bob & Luella Marshall and good friend, Bill Swanson.
