Hedie E. Groh, 84, of 401 W. Bosworth, Manly, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. A funeral mass will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 412 N. Broadway Street, Manly with Rev. David Kucera officiating. Interment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. A scriptural wake service will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Hedie Groh Memorial Fund or Hospice of North Iowa. Hedie was born July 21, 1922 in Ladysmith, Wisconsin the daughter of Florian and Anna (Belzik) Trinka. The family moved to Chicago and then to Osage where Hedie attended school. She attended Washington Elementary and the old Lincoln High School. Hedie was united in marriage to Elmer Groh on September 7, 1940 in Northwood, Iowa and to this union three children were born. The Groh?s moved to New York where they were both employed at the Carrier Corp. of Syracuse. After retirement, they moved back to Iowa. Hedie enjoyed planting flowers, sewing, ceramics, painting, wintering with her husband in Texas, and most of all spending time with her family. Hedie is survived by her three children, Diana Baxter and husband Ed of Central Square, New York, Gloria Groh of Belton, Missouri, Alan Groh and wife Zelda of Manly; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Elsie Kloberdanz of Waterloo, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Delores Miller of Mason City, Pauline Bull of Mason City, Dorothy Larkin and husband Harry of Albert Lea, MN, Lorraine King of Mason City; brothers-in-law, Victor Groh and wife Mary Ellen of Thornton, IA, Donald Groh and wife Millie of Des Moines, IA; several nieces and nephews; and many friends . Hedie was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband; two sisters, Mary Burton and Stella Pitra; and her loving dogs.
