Hazel H. Duenow, 95, of 651 6th St. SE, died Saturday (January 22, 2005) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. Donald L. Simmonds officiating. Interment will be in First Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Tuesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N Pennsylvania Avenue and continue Wednesday one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or Hospice of North Iowa. Hazel was born April 22, 1909 in Mitchell County Iowa the daughter of Fred and Isabelle (Swain) Priem. She was baptized at First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar on Pentecost Sunday and confirmed September 30, 1923 at the same church. She received her education at Otranto Consolidated School and graduated from high school there May 20, 1926. Following graduation, she remained at home with her parents assisting them with the many duties on the farm. She was united in marriage December 20, 1928 to Elmer Duenow at First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar. That date was the anniversary of her parents and Elmer?s parents marriage. Following their marriage, they resided for 2 ½ years with Elmer?s parents on their farm and then moved to Mason City where they spent practically all of there remaining years. Hazel is survived by her 2 sons, Gerald M. Duenow and wife Barbara of Cedar Rapids, Gene A. Duenow and wife Kathleen of Tulsa, OK; sister, Ruth Robertson of St. Ansgar; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
