Hazel C. Hunt

Hazel C. Hunt, 93, of 832 9th St. NE, died Thursday (January 8, 2004) at Heritage Care Center. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. Kathy Graves, director of Spiritual Care, Hospice of North Iowa and Rev. Jo Frahm-Watkins, First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Hazel C. Hunt Memorial Fund. Hazel was born August 28, 1910 in Helena, Oklahoma the daughter of Clayton and Elta Luncinda (Luscombe) Coultrup. She attended school in Helena. Hazel married Frank F. Hunt September 26, 1927 in Helena, Oklahoma where they farmed. In 1937 Hazel and her family moved to Mason City where she worked at Woolworth?s Dime Store and then for 21 years at the former Buttrey?s Store as a seamstress. Hazel?s first love was her 3 children, 9 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was very proud of all there accomplishments and enjoyed attending there many activities. She enjoyed sewing for those she loved and made many dance recital costumes, formal and wedding attire. She was big Twins and Cubbies fan and enjoyed sitting around the television and watching or listening to games. She loved to crochet afghans for all her grandchildren, fishing, working in the garden and canning vegetables. In later years she enjoyed bus tours and spent countless hours working on family geneology. Left to cherish her memory are 3 children, Loren Dean Hunt and wife Beth of Mason City, Genevieve Lepird of Mason City, Judy Scott and husband Dennis of Mason City; 9 grandchildren, Ricky Hunt of Everett, WA, Joe Hunt and wife Julie of Mason City, Jim Hunt and wife Pam of Clear Lake, Mark Hunt of Mason City, Marsha Lepird of Mason City, Tim Lepird and wife Rae Jean of Hastings, NE, Kim Ward of Cedar Rapids, Michelle Smith and husband Matthew of Manly, Greg Scott and wife Dawn of Mason City; 20 great-grandchildren, Arley and Gus Hunt of Everett, WA, Nathan, Tyler and Haley Hunt of Mason City, Ben, Alex, Lauren and Mallory Hunt of Clear Lake, Garrett Hunt of Mason City, Jeremiah, Erin, Joshua and Jordyn Lepird of Hasting, NE, Melissa Ward of Iowa City, McKenzie Ward of Cedar Rapids, Amanda and Cynthia Smith of Manly, Zachary and Allison Scott of Mason City; sisters, Ethel Lynch of Clinton, TN, Dorothy Stroh of Whittier, CA, Ruth Conaway and husband Chuck of Pleasant Hill, OR, many nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; 2 infant children, Frankie and Hazel; brother, Earl LeRoy and a sister, Alice.
