Harriet E. Main

October 18, 1921 — December 3, 2009

MASON CITY: Harriet E. Main, 88, of Mason City, died Thursday, December 3, 2009 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, December 10, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Pastor Kathy Graves officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 11, 2009 at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Harriet Main memorial fund in care of the family.

Harriet was born October 18, 1921, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Horace and Ida (Kline) Johnson. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1939 and later graduated from the University of Minnesota. Harriet was in the Navy Nurse Corp from October 1944 July 1946. She married Norman F. Main on January 1, 1949, in Minneapolis. The Mains moved to Mason City in 1952. Harriet worked as a Nurse. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she participated in many church activities: Bell Choir, Lydia Church Circle, quilting and communion visitor for senior adults, Mason City Womens Club and Lioness Club. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading and going to NIACC concerts with her friends.

Harriet is survived by her son, Richard (Audrey) Main of Buena Park, California; daughter, Susan (George) Hansen of Fremont, Nebraska; grandchildren, Jessica & Scott Main, Kari Follmuth, Eric and Travis Hansen; great grandchildren, Emily and Alex; one brother: Walter Johnson and wife Geneva of Minneapolis.

She is preceded in death by her husband Norman in 2008, her parents
