Harriet E. Johnson

Harriet Johnson, 83, of Mason City, died Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Memorial services will be held at a later date with Inurnment in the Our Saviours Lutheran Cemetery in Kiester, Minnesota also held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Harriet Johnson memorial fund. Harriet was born February 22, 1924 in Kiester, MN,  the daughter Olaf and Anna (Wittman) Hermundstad.  She graduated from Kiester High School as Valedictorian  in 1942.  She also attended the Minneapolis School of Business, where she received executive secretary education.  Harriet worked for Allied Mills for 25 years.   She married John A. Johnson on February 1, 1946 in Sacramento, CA.   Harriet was a past officer for the National Secretaries Association.  She enjoyed planting flowers in the spring, taking care of the house, cooking and keeping up on politics.  She also enjoyed visiting with family, friends, and neighbors.  Harriets pets were also very important to her.    Harriet is survived by her daughter Claudia Johnson of Mason City, IA; two sisters:  Mildred Hermundstad of Mason City, and Nona Skyles of Cedar Falls, IA; four nieces and  nephews:  Mark Skyles and wife Carmen of Waterloo, IA, Sally Cox and husband Greg and their family of Waterloo, IA, Jane Flanigan and husband Tom of Arizona and Mary Skyles of Arizona.  She is also survived by her beloved pets:  Angus and Callie. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John in 2005 and her son Timmy in 1963 and her brother Earl Hermundstad in 2007.
