Harriet B. Petcoff, 92, of Mason City, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the Good Shepherd Health Center. Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 5, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Pastor Kathy Graves officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Elk Creek Cemetery, Kensett. Memorials may be directed to World Hunger or Trinity Lutheran Church. Harriet was born April 11, 1920 at the rural home of her parents, Albert and Ella (Ellingson) Brunsvold. She grew up there and enjoyed living on the farm. Harriet was baptized and reaffirmed the faith of her baptism in the Lutheran faith at the Elk Creek Lutheran Church, rural Kensett. She graduated from Kensett High School in 1937 and later Hamilton School of Commerce. She went to work at the Rath Packing Company in Waterloo and returned to Mason City where she worked for International Harvester until it closed. On June 24, 1956, Harriet married Steve Petcoff in a garden wedding at the home of her parents in Manly. They built a new home and lived there until Steve passed away suddenly in 1980. She then moved to an apartment. Harriet was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was involved in church circle and other church activities. Harriet is survived by several nieces and nephews. Harriet was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Steve; sisters, Lyla Mentink and Alice Holstad.
