Harm Vierkant

June 22, 1925 — November 22, 2012

Harm Vierkant, 87, of rural Sheffield, died Wednesday, November 22, 2012 at his residence. Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 26, 2012 at the Goodell Cemetery in Goodell, Iowa with Pastor Dan Gerrietts of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Harm Vierkant memorial fund in care of the family. Harm Vierkant was born June 22, 1925 in rural Cerro Gordo County, the son of Harm and Clara (Miners) Vierkant. He attended country school until the 8th grade. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in World War II. After his honorable discharge, he returned home and was married to Ruth Shultz on October, 15, 1949 in Northwood, Iowa. Harm was the owner and operator of Chazens Auto Parts in Mason City for many years. He then farmed in the Rockwell/Rockford area for many years before moving to rural Sheffield. Harm always had a story to tell and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his son Todd Vierkant of rural Sheffield, and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth in 1973 and sister, Bennett Sharp.
