Gwendolyn M. Scott

Gwendolyn M. Scott, 84, of Mason City, died Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia Avenue with Rev. Sean McRoberts officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Monday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Memorials may be directed to the Gwendolyn Scott Memorial Fund. Gwen was born August 9, 1927 in Mitchell, Nebraska the daughter of William and Marie (Culver) Thomas. She graduated from Clay Center, Nebraska High School in 1945 and St. Mary’s School of Nursing, Rochester, Minnesota in 1948. Gwen married Jack R. Scott August 19, 1950. The Scott’s moved to Mason City in 1966 when Jack purchased the Gus Muehe Insurance Agency. Gwen was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Bible Study, Sorosis Study Club, Mason City Country Club, numerous Bridge Clubs and was an avid reader. Gwen loved life and was known for her infectious laugh. Gwen is survived by 2 daughters, Alexis Scott (Patricia Farrell) of San Francisco, California, and Jennifer Scott (John Perszyk) of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; 5 grandchildren, John Rebeiro, Heather Maxwell, Alexander Rebeiro, Thomas and Lynn Perszyk. Gwen was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; daughter, Susan; 3 brothers, Robert, Eugene, and William.
