MASON CITY: Gordon Henry Wienke, 89, of Mason City, formerly of Rockford, IL died on Saturday, September 15, 2012 surrounded by family at Heritage Care Center, Mason City. Gordon moved to Heritage in September 2011 with his wife, Pearl, who died in February 2012. There will not be a funeral service at this time. Memorials may be given to First Covenant Church, Mason City or Hospice of North Iowa. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com Gordon was born to Henry Frederick Wienke and Ella Sophia Wienke on September 4, 1923 in Elgin, IL. He grew up in Dundee,IL, served in the infantry in WW2 in Germany and graduated from Bradley University,Peoria, IL in 1949. He worked as an accountant for George C Poole Ford, Arlington Heights,IL and Star Ford, Streator,IL. Gordon married Pearl Marie Davis August 28, 1953 in Elgin,IL. They were long-time members of Broadway Covenant Church, Rockford,IL.during their senior years. Left to cherish his loving memory are children, Richard (Carol)Wienke, Algonquin,IL, Shirley Crane, Mason City, Nancy(Gary)Golian, Rockford,IL, Margie(Tom)Lineback,Roscoe,IL, Tammy(Dave)Menke,Palm Bay,FL, Tom Wienke,Pekin,IL.: grandchildren, Tim(Linda)Rothenbach,Tracy Harris, Mindy(Dan)Richter, Rod Wienke, Sarah(Steve Locher)Crane,Rachel,Stephen,Hannah &Olivia Crane, Philip,Matthew&Michael Golian, Abigail Lineback, Chelsea Long, Rita & Jack Menke, and Dylan Wienke; great grandchildren, Aaron Rothenbach, Henry, Alden, Miles & Grant Locher; sister-in-laws Mardell Davis and Bessie Davis; many nieces and nephews. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Pearl, daughter, Rita Harris, infant twin sisters and many sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws. Gordon loved the Lord. He loved numbers whether it was accounting at work and church, or knowing all the baseball statistics of his beloved Chicago Cubs. He also enjoyed gardening and pinochle.
