Gertrude M. Rosenkild, 93,of 302 2nd St. NE, died Wednesday (October 29, 2003) at the Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday at the First Christian Church, 318 N. Adams, with Rev. Mark Young, Clear Lake Christian Church officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Friday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Memorials may be given to the Gertrude M. Rosenkild Memorial Fund. Gertrude was born July 25, 1910 in Miller, Nebraska the daughter of Rev Willard W. and Alma (Harris) Kratzer. As a young girl, Gertrude and her five brothers lived in several Midwest towns where the ministry called their father. She graduated from Ansley High School, Ansley, Nebraska in 1928. On September 29, 1929 Gertrude married Harold E. Rosenkild at the home of her parents in Audubon, Iowa. After living in Missouri Valley and Atlantic the family moved to Mason City n 1948. Gertrude loved he church family and was a devoted wife and loving mother. She and her husband built a home in P.M. Park, Clear Lake, in the early 1950?s. Having her grandchildren spend time there was such fun for her. Besides being a homemaker, Gertrude was a beautiful, prolific poet. Genealogy also captured her interest in 1975. Gertrude was a member of the Double F Club in Clear Lake, Queen Rebekah Lodge, past president of Clear Lake Women?s Club and the Clear Lake Progress Club. She was in the North Central Iowa Genealogy Club, Genealogical societies of Ohio State, Laurence Co. Ohio, Schuyler Co. Missouri and Iowa State. She was an associate member of the Telephone Pioneers and was on the Iowa State Board of United Church Women and of Christian Women?s Fellowship. She was named club woman of the year in 1963-64. She had 3 genealogy books published and also some poetry books, among them ?My Gift of Love?. Gertrude was a former member of Clear Lake Christian Church and then First Christian Church in Mason City. Her faith and love of Jesus guided every aspect of her life and her service to others. Special thanks from Gertrude?s family go to the compassionate staff of Health Center 1, second floor West at Good Shepherd for their nearly seven years of tender care, especially Linda Anderson. May God bless you all. Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters; Doris Alman and husband Rudy of Mason City, Rosemary Seidel of Mason City, 5 grandchildren; Kerry Halverson and husband Michael, Scott Alman and wife Judy, Barbara Smith and husband Scott, Mark Seidel and wife Mary Ann, Tamara Watson and husband Kevin, 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild. Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers and husband, Harold.
