Gertrude L. Wisman

Gertrude L. Wisman, 87, of 1619 S. Carolina Avenue, died Monday (August 16, 2004) at the Heritage Care Center. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1405 S. Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. Keith Scott officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Sunday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue at the church one hour before the service. Memorials may be given to the Gertrude L. Wisman Memorial Fund. Gertrude was born May 25, 1917 in Webster, Wisconsin the daughter of Herman and Lucy (Clark) Nack. She graduated from Webster High School then attended one year of teachers training in Grantsburg, Wisconsin. She taught rural school in Wisconsin for 3 years. Gertrude married John A. Wisman May 13, 1939 in Webster. They moved to Long Pine, Nebraska in 1945. In 1951, they moved to Mason City. Gertrude was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, church circle and the Chicago Northwestern Railroad group. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, sewing and baking. In 1989, Gertrude and husband John celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Gertrude is survived by her son, Theodore ?Ted? Wisman and wife Lynn of Mason City; daughters, Carol J. Merritt and husband Ira of Huntsville, Alabama, Ione R. Barron and husband Dennis of North Mankato, Minnesota; grandchildren, Dr. John Wisman and wife Karen of Seattle, WA, Holly Sagar and husband Ken of Des Moines, Mary Maiwald and husband Karl of Seattle, WA, Robert Wisman of Curlew, WA, Melinda McCann and husband Dean of Huntsville, AL, Dr. Sarah Merritt of Chapel Hill, NC; great grandchildren, Maxwell and Jonathan Wisman of Seattle, WA, Nicholas Mennen of Des Moines, Jesse, Charles and Molly Maiwald of Seattle, Morgan McCann of Huntsville, AL; special family friend, John Barron of Mason City. Gertrude is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Melvin Nack and sister, Dorothy Nielsen.
