Gerald D. (Jerry) Latch, 69 of Mason City died Saturday, March 3, 2007 at home with his family around him. Jerry was born on October 12, 1937 in Goodell, Iowa, the son of Glen and Florence (Wilkins) Latch. He was a 1956 graduate of Rockwell High School. After high school he joined the U.S. Air Force. On July 2, 1960, Jerry was united in marriage to Judy Hopes in Rockwell. He retired from Wonder Bread after 31 years in 1999. He enjoyed hunting and in 1999 he got his trophy buck at Pilot Knob. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle with Chuck and side kick Vicki and numerous rides with the kids. Jerry is survived by his wife Judy, three daughters, Carol and her husband John Schutz of Mason City, Julie and her husband Dan Miller of Rockford and Pam and her husband Rob Flugge of Rockwell, two sons: Steve Latch and Brad Latch and Lisa all of Mason City. Eight grandchildren, Dan and Dustin Nicholson of Rockford, BJ Schutz and fiancé Bailey of Mason City, Jason Schutz of Mason City, Sarah Hayes of Omaha, NE, Emily Latch of Alden, Minnesota, Lindsey Buchholz of Rockwell and Alexis Latch of Marble Rock. Four great grandchildren: Cristopher Nicholson of Wescosville, Penn., Austin, Kelly Jr. and Beti-Jo Hayes, all of Omaha, NE. Several nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Betty Latch of North Liberty. Special friends Chuck and Vicki Ostercamp and Christa Harms, also his dog Spencer. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Elroy and Clement and sister Gladys Trees. According to his wishes, his body will be cremated and there will be no services or visitation. A private family committal will be at Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
