Weber Memorial Fund or Hospice of North Iowa. George Weber was born with God?s tether on February 22, 1926 in Fairmont, Minnesota. God drew his tether home on August 4, 2007 when George died at age 81 at the Muse Norris Hospice Center in Mason City. George graduated in 1944 from Fairmont High School and worked for DuPont in Rosemount, Minnesota making gunpowder. He then managed the family livestock business in Fairmont. He married Marjorie Nelson in 1948 and two sons, James and Lee, were born to that marriage. George closed the livestock business in 1966 when, at the age of 40, he enrolled at Mankato State College, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1970 and earning a Master?s degree in business education in 1971. In 1971 George began his teaching career at NIACC as an instructor in the Business Department. He married Dianna Arndt in 1978 and retired from NIACC in 1988. George and Dianna enjoyed their retirement, spending winters in South Texas and summers in Grand Marais, Minnesota. George was a Past Master (1963) and a 50 year member of Chain of Lakes Lodge #64 AFAM at Fairmont, Minnesota. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Mason City. George loved learning and the changes, progress, and growth that learning creates. Stories with a point that illustrated something he had learned filled his conversation and he delighted in hearing a well-turned phrase. He examined life and his values evolved and developed with what he saw and what he learned, resulting in his strong commitment to peace and justice. George was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife Dianna, son James Weber of Richland, Washington, son Lee Weber (Yvonne) of Mason City, granddaughter Sarah Weber (Colby VanVoren) of Corvallis, Oregon, as well as three step-children, Victoria Arndt (Bob Rohlfson) of Iowa Falls, Jodi Arndt (Dennis Boileau) of Chaska, Minnesota, and Michael Arndt of Flagstaff, Arizona, and by their children Paul Miller, Christopher Snere, Katie Boileau, Andrew Boileau, Zachary Arndt , Shealyn Arndt, and Chelsea Arndt. He was preceded in death by his parents Philip and Lou and his sister Marjorie Gaylord. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa.
