Gary Michael “Mike” Leaman, 63, of Mason City died peacefully, surrounded by his family, Wed., Jan. 25, 2012 at the Muse Norris Hospice Unit. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Sat., Feb. 04, at First Christian Church, 318 North Adams, with Pastor Cline officiating. Upon Gary's wishes, his body was donated to the University of Iowa for educational purposes. In lieu of flowers or memorials, please consider a donation to the Northern Lights Emergency Shelter, 307 N. Monroe Ave. Mason City in Gary’s name. Online condolences may be left at www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com Gary was born on Mar. 9, 1948, in Mason City, IA, the first of four children of Ralph Leroy and Patricia Jean (Flavin) Leaman. In June 1966, Gary graduated from Pocatello High School in Pocatello, ID. He then pursued training for a lifelong career as a Registered Respiratory Therapist – first as a teacher in Dubuque, IA, and later as a Respiratory Unit Manager in Hospitals in Fort Wayne, IN, and Pontiac and Rockton, IL. Gary married in 1982 in IL, where he and his wife Suzanne raised their family of three wonderful children. Several years ago Gary returned to Mason City where he lived at the Northern Lights Emergency Shelter. Surviving Gary are his three loving children – Casandra “Cassie” Jo Leaman of Crystal Lake, IL, Michael Wayne Leaman of Rockton, IL, and Heidi Kay Leaman of Rockton, IL; Gary’s brother, Tim Leaman and his wife Lorraine (Vohsmann) Leaman; sister-in-law Shawn (Willis) Leaman; sister, Heidi (Leaman) Zinsli and husband Jeff ; and a large extended family and friends. Gary was preceded into death by his parents, Ralph Leroy and Patricia Jean (Flavin) Leaman, and brother, Steven Patrick Leaman.
