Garry E. Taylor, 76, of Mason City, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Good Shepherd Health Center. Memorial services will be held 1:30 PM Monday, July 8, 2013 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. Kent Mechler, Good Shepherd Heath Center Chaplain officiating. Inurnment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Sunday at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa, Good Shepherd Health Center, or donor’s choice. Garry was born July 12, 1936 in Mason City the son of Lynn and Helen (Evans) Taylor. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1954. Garry served in the US Army attaining the rank of Specialist 4th Class. Following his discharge, he returned to Mason City and was employed by Cordle Plumbing and Kelroy Plumbing. Garry married Sharon Barlow July 10, 1970 in Mason City. For 31 years, he owned and operated Taylor Plumbing. Garry retired in 2007. Some of his interests included gardening, trap shooting, motorcycles, history, and classical music. Garry is survived by his wife, Sharon Taylor of Mason City; daughter, Sarah (John) Henderson of Minot, ND; son, Paul (Angie) Taylor of Urbandale; grandchildren, Maddux and Molly Taylor of Urbandale; brother, Ray (Sue) Taylor of Shakopee, MN; sister, Corinne Taylor of Mason City; many nieces and nephews. Garry was preceded in death by his parents, and 1 brother, Kent Taylor.
