Fred L. Huff, 54, of Mason City, IA, died on Sunday, February 28, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, March 7, 2016, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Pastor Dan Carlson of the Hanford Community Church officiating. Inurnment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. Through organ and tissue donation, Fred has helped others, which will always be remembered. Memorials may be directed to the Fred Huff memorial fund in care of the family.

Fred was born March 21, 1961, in Mason City, the son of Duane and Audrey (Dyre) Huff. He attended school in Rockwell, IA before earning his diploma through Miracosta College. In 1979, Fred enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in 1982. Fred was a Field Radio Operator who earned the Rifle Marksman Badge, Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Humanitarian Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. On December 11, 1982, Fred was united in marriage to Pam Brood in Swaledale, IA. Fred’s work history revolved around cars. He enjoyed working on cars (old hot rods) with Scott Schneckloth and helping Steve Tass at Custom Auto Builders with Collision repairs. He also enjoyed fishing with his buddy Randy Klang and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeye’s.

Fred is survived by his mother: Audrey Huff of Mason City; son: Zach Huff and wife Tabitha of Rockford, IA; daughter: Brandy Huff and fiancé Garrett Hunt of Mason City; 5 grandchildren: Ava Huff, Zada Huff, Dazie Huff, Zoie Hunt and Zander Hunt; 2 brothers: Cliff Huff and wife Norma of St. Cloud, MN and Edward Huff and wife Sharon of Gavleston, TX. He is also survived by Rainna Minert of Mason City, Ezekiel Huff of Fort Collins, CO, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father: Duane Huff; and 2 sisters: B’Ann Huff and Ginger Matz.
