MASON CITY ? Francis E. DeWitt, 80 of Mason City died Monday, April 18, 2005 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 419 North Delaware Avenue with Rev. Mark Lavrenz officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association. Visitation will be from 5 ? 7 PM on Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania Avenue and one hour prior to service time at the church on Friday. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa. Francis E. DeWitt, the son of Elmer and Florence (Hollenbeck) DeWitt, was born on April 5, 1925 on a farm in rural Mason City. He married Rama True on November 1, 1952 in Albert Lea and they were married for over 52 years. Francis was a life long truck driver from Mason City and for a period of time owned and operated his own trucking company. Since retirement he has enjoyed life and especially spending time watching his grandchildren at play. Francis is survived by his wife Rama; children, Dennis, Cheryl, Donald, Sherry, and Kim DeWitt; fifteen grandchildren; special nephew, Les Weitzel; brother, Kenneth DeWitt and many special great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His parents, Elmer and Florence DeWitt; siblings, Robert, Clarice, Iris DeWitt, Blanch Cline, Doris Gourley, and Joyce Julsen, preceded him in death.
