Frances "Fran" M. Nutton

Frances “Fran” M. Nutton, 93, of Mason City, died Thursday, September 17, 2015 at the Heritage Care Center. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, September 21, 2015 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. Kathleen R. Moore, First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the Frances Nutton Memorial Fund.

Fran was born September 24, 1921 in Mason City the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Wepking) Hill. She married Jack Nutton July 19, 1952 in Mason City. Fran spent time in Washington DC working for the Department of Defense, Minneapolis, Minnesota at the University of Minnesota and then returning to Mason City where she worked 37 years for the Social Security Administration. She retired in December of 1986. Fran was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she also taught Sunday school. A few of her interests included golfing and swimming. She was also a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and Beta Sigma Phi.

Fran is survived by her daughter, Janis (Michael) Fletcher of Pebble Beach, California; grandchildren, Katelyn Fletcher of Dallas, Texas and John Fletcher of Pebble Beach, California; step-granddaughters, Jenna Fletcher of Livermore, California and Ashley Fletcher of Miami, Florida; sister, Lois Ellett of Sanborn, Iowa; brother, Byron Hill of Mason City; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Fran was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; 2 brothers, Gordon and Charles.
