Frances ?Fran? O. Griffen, 76, of 420 S. Taylor, died Sunday, July 2, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Rev. James Magelssen officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue at the church one hour before the service. Memorials may be given to the Frances Griffen Memorial Fund. Fran was born February 13, 1930 the daughter of William F. and Minda O. (Askelson) Martin. She married Dale O. Griffen August 20, 1947 in Mason City. Fran volunteered at the North Iowa Transition Center as well as volunteering and working for the Easter Seals. She also served as a foster grandparent at Charlie Brown Day Care. Fran was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed sewing, embroidering, cooking and being with her family. Fran is survived by her children, Rosalie Carda and husband Gene of Mora, Minnesota, Dennis Griffen and wife Carolyn of Puyallup, Washington, Barbara Nies and husband Del of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Charlotte Reynolds of Plymouth, Robert Griffen and wife Betty of Plymouth and Joyce Griffen of Motley, Minnesota; 15 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; many great grandchildren; many great great grandchildren; brother, Alvin Martin and wife Mardel of Kentucky, brother, William Martin and wife Noreen of Irving, Texas, brother, Clayton Martin and wife Doris of Charles City, sister, Cleatus Beal of Waterloo, brother, Eli Martin and wife Gladys of Kentucky and brother, Harlan Martin and wife Kelly of Donnellson, Iowa; many nieces and nephews Fran was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dale; son, Darryl; 2 sisters, Bertha Barr and Minda Irene Martin; grandson, Darryl Lynn Griffen Jr; great granddaughter, Sabrina Grace Griffen and step-great granddaughter, Haley Mae Auers.
