Frances E. Percival

Frances, known to friends and family as Frana was born in Walton, Kansas to James A. and Mary Ellen (Brown) Johnston, November 19, 1909. She passed away quietly February 7, 2005. She was educated in Newton, Kansas and the University of Nebraska. There she became certified to teach kindergarten. On June 18, 1933 she married James A. Percival. The couple lived in several cities, eventually settling in Marshalltown. There she taught kindergarten until retiring in 1964. Frana was a sociable person, she enjoyed membership in PEO, First Congregational United Church of Christ, playing cards with her friends, traveling with her husband and entertaining her family. Survivors include one son, Jim of Mason City, his wife Deb; two grandsons, Kurt of New Hope, Minnesota, Kevin and wife Carol of Clive; four grandsons, Matthew, Benjamin and Zachary of Clive, Isaac of New Hope, Minnesota; one great granddaughter, Madison of New Hope, Minnesota. Frana was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, her husband and a son in infancy. There will be no visitation or memorial service. Her body was donated to the University of Iowa College of Medicine. Memorials may be given to the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Mason City.
