Evelyn A. Walsh, 78, of Mason City, died Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Wednesday (April 27, 2011) at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1405 South Pennsylvania Avenue, with Rev. Keith Scott officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM 8:00 PM on Tuesday, (April 26, 2011) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania Avenue. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Evelyn Walsh memorial fund in care of the family. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com. Evelyn was born July 24, 1932, in Plymouth, Iowa, the daughter of Dewey G. and Tena (Bartes) Carmany. She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1950. Evelyn married Dan A. Walsh on April 16, 1955 in Plymouth. She worked for RGIS (Inventory Service) for 22 years before retiring. Evelyn enjoyed spending time with her family. They were very important to her. She especially enjoyed family dinners at the Muskie Lounge in Clear Lake. Evelyn also enjoyed attending band concerts in Mason City and Clear Lake, cooking, and having guests over. She lived a very social life and was a friend to many. Evelyn was a kind and generous person who could be characterized as a caregiver. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and the Mason City Chapter Of The Blind. She was also involved in Scouting. Evelyn is survived by her children: Larry Walsh and wife Melissa of Loveland, CO, Steve Walsh and wife Lisa of Arvada, CO, and James Walsh and wife Anita of Solon, IA; 6 grandchildren: Garrett, Sarah, Alex, Kayla, Ashley, and Ryan; 1 brother: Don Carmany and wife Bernice of Coon Rapids, MN; 2 sisters: Nellie Prindle and husband Don of Mason City and Dorothy Smith of Mason City. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dan in 2002; and 2 brothers: Lawrence Larry Carmany and Ernest Carmany.
