Evelyn A. Long, 85, of Mason City, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at the Good Shepherd Health Center. A funeral service will be held at 5:30 PM on Friday, April 13, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church (Chapel), 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with Pastor Kathy Graves officiating. Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM. Interment will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 16, 2012 at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD. Evelyn was born January 21, 1927, in Hurley, SD, the daughter of Niels and Annie (Christensen) Berthelsen. She grew up in Parker, SD and graduated from Parker High School. On July 13, 1946, she married Ronald Long in Sioux Falls, SD. Evie worked for the State Health Department in Pierre, SD for many years until her retirement. Evie was a long time member of the Lutheran Memorial Church in Pierre and for the last 6 years, a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City, IA. She was also a member in PEO. Evie enjoyed spending time with her family and her many dear friends. She cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and was delighted at the arrival of each new great grandchild. Evie is survived by one son: Steven (Vonne) Long of Mason City; one daughter: Renee Balogh of Sarasota, FL; 5 grandchildren: Tony (Diane) Baade of Atlanta, GA, Matt (Kate) Baade of Atlanta, Chris (Trish) Baade of Mint Hills, NC, Katie (Ben) Fistler of Mason City, and Megan Long of Denver, CO; 4 great grandchildren: Jack, Hadleigh, Andrew Baade, and Henry Fistler; one brother: Howard (Joy) Berthelsen of Parker; and one sister: Mildred (Dreldon) Steward of Parker. She was preceded in death by her husband: Ronald Long in 1988, her parents, 2 brothers: Harlan and Everett, and sister: Loretta Nelson.

Cemetery:
Interment will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 16, 2012 at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD

Visitation:
Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM

Service:
A funeral service will be held at 5:30 PM on Friday, April 13, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church (Chapel)
