Elnora Broers, 92 of Mason City died Saturday, June 19, 2004 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at St. James Lutheran Church, 1148 ? 4th Street SE with Pastor Paul C. Nelson officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM ? 7:00 PM on Tuesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania Avenue. Memorials may be given to St. James Lutheran Church or Hospice of North Iowa. Elnora was born on October 31, 1911 the daughter of Jelde (Joe) Wallrich and Anna Eleanor (Bloomquist) Broers in the Bath Township of Cerro Gordo County. She attended the Bath Township #3 School in Cerro Gordo County. Elnora worked for: Marshall and Swift, Kresgies, Younkers, Diana Hughs, and finally Sears where she retired in 1976 following seventeen years of service. She was a lifetime member of St. James Lutheran Church, serving as Ladies Aid Treasurer for thirteen years, Do ? Day Ladies making quilts for missions and folding newsletters and mailings for the church. Elnora was also active in RSVP and in 1984 began volunteering at the Police Station for over ten years. She loved to cook and bake, and was well known for her gardening, particularly her roses. Elnora also enjoyed canning, crocheting and quilting. Elnora is survived by her nieces: Dolores J. Bowers and Karen K. Paulsen both of Mason City; nephews: Ron H. Paulsen and wife Linda of Mason City, Robert D. Theilen and wife Joan of Orange, California and Jim R. Theilen and wife Dianna of Ames, Iowa; grandniece, Rhonda Paulsen of Los Angeles, California, grandnephews: Andrew Paulsen of New York, New York; Stuart Paulsen and wife Tori of Short Hills, New Jersey; Dan Bowers and wife Donna of Rockwell, Iowa; Dave Bowers and wife Lisa of Mason City; Troy Theilen and wife Amy of Story City, Iowa; Jeff Theilen and wife Lori of Ames, Iowa; Mike Theilen and wife Keli of Des Moines, Iowa; Jamie Theilen and wife Lacey of Ames, Iowa; Robert J. Theilen and wife Tammy of Fresno, California and Michelle Theilen of Phoenix, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Doris M. Paulsen and Pearl A. Theilen; two brothers-in-law, Paul W. Paulsen and Leonard A. Theilen; two nephews, Donald P. Paulsen and Gordon E. Theilen.
