Elbert D. ?Mike? Djuren, 81, of 318 S. Rhode Island, died Friday, November 25, 2005 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 419 N. Delaware with Rev. Mark Lavrenz officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Monday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue at the church one hour before the service. Memorials may be given to the Mike Djuren Memorial Fund. Mike was born August 6, 1924 in Emery, Iowa the son of Siebend and Minnie (Cremer) Djuren. Mike married Betty Martin February 12, 1944 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He served during WW II in the U.S. Navy. Following his discharge, he returned to Mason City where he worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. Mike owned and operated Federal Barbershop for 30 years. He retired in 1988. Mike was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where he had served as an elder, usher, Sunday school teacher and treasurer. He was also a member of the North Iowa Amateur Ham Radio Club and R.S.V.P.. Mike enjoyed spending time with his family and riding his motorcycle. Mike is survived by his wife, Betty Djuren of Mason City; son, Dan Djuren and wife Diane of Clear Lake; grandchildren, Anthony Djuren and wife Melinda of Miami, Florida, Michelle Krecl and husband Scott of Redondo Beach, California; Great grandchildren, Jeremy, Alyson and Ryan; sisters, Mae Mitcham of Des Moines and Esther Hougham of Des Moines; several nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Harm Djuren; sisters, Marie Varvel, Irene Stoltenberg, Helen Calvert and Edna Hauer.
