Duane E. Huff, 71, of 1615 8th St. SW, died Tuesday (October 12, 2004) at the Good Shepherd Health Center after a long battle with Parkinson, Diabetes, and Heart Disease, he has now gone to be with the lord. Funeral services will be held 10:30AM Saturday (October 16, 2004) at the Hanford Community Church, 1214 Spruce Ave., Mason City with the Rev. Mark Culham officiating. Interment will be in Rockwell Cemetery, Rockwell, Iowa. Visitation will be Friday (October 15, 2004) 6:00PM-8:00PM at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. A memorial fund has been established in Duane?s name. Duane was born on June 23, 1933 the son of Lyle and Violetta (Adams) Huff, in Rockwell, Iowa. He attended Bath #3, rural school then graduated from Rockwell High School in 1951. On April 13, 1952, Duane was united in marriage to Audrey Dyre at the First United Methodist Church in Mason City, Iowa. The couple resided southeast of Mason City, Duane farmed with his father for many years, along with working the Sugar Beet Campaign and the ?Lard Room? at Decker?s Packing Plant in Mason City. Duane and his wife owned and operated the Huff?s Drive Inn & Coffee House in Nora Springs for several years. For 25 years Duane worked for the parts department at the John Deere Implement until retirement at the age of 62. After retirement Duane purchased a motorhome to travel the United States, but enjoyed only four years before medical problems caused him to not be able to drive anymore. Duane enjoyed playing the organ, and was a member of the John Deere band known as the ?Partsmen Three.? He was a member of the SPEBSQA?s River City Chorus and the Hanford Community Church. Survivors include, wife, Audrey; sons, Cliff and wife Norma, of St. Cloud, MN, Edward and wife Wylene of Alvin TX, Fred of Mason City; adopted grandson, Zeke; grandchildren, Alyson, Adam, Andrea, Zachary, Brady, Jasmine, and Josilyn; sisters, Roberta Wharam and husband Jack of Indianapolis, IN, Reva Fredin and husband Chet of Waterloo, IA; brother, Dean Huff and wife Helen of Florida; uncle, Pete Adams and wife Gladys of Mason City; aunt, Nadine Berger of South Amana, IA; godchild, Lori (Neuhring) Schmidt; Andrew Matz of Berthoud, CO, Steve Miller of Henderson, CO, and many relatives and friends. Duane is preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Ginger Matz, B?Ann Huff; and two brothers in infancy.
