Dorothy Ruth Krieger, 94, of 2301 4th St. SE, died Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday at First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia Avenue with Rev. Keith Scott and Rev. Steve Hansen, Wesley United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Friday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Memorials may be given to Minneapolis Children?s Hospital c/o Children?s Cancer Fund. Dorothy was born February 16, 1912 in Gifford, Iowa the daughter of George W. and Anna Susan (Wentworth) Smith. She moved to Mason City and graduated from Mason City High School in 1930. Dorothy married George Hans Krieger February 18, 1931 in Mason City. Dorothy worked in the family greenhouse business which was located north of Mason City and is now part of Lime Creek Nature Center. In 1943, she and George built Skyland Swimming Pool followed by building their family home and greenhouses on the present location East of Mason City. Dorothy was instrumental and active in all parts of the business until retiring in 2000. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as watching them participate in their sporting events. She had enjoyed traveling and fishing. Dorothy is survived by her children, Ernest L. Krieger and wife AnnGrace of Jefferson, Marjorie Ann Mueller and husband Ted of Shoreline, Washington, Herbert G. Krieger and wife Karen of Mason City; grandchildren, Kurt Krieger and wife Carmen of Jefferson, Ross Krieger and wife Laura of Boone, Suzanne Mjolsness and husband Russ of Nevada, Andrew Krieger and wife Cathy of Grand Junction, Craig Mueller of California, Heidi Mueller of Bremerton, Washington, Todd Krieger and wife Vicki of Mason City, Tim Krieger and wife Tammy of Prior Lake, Minnesota, Holly Bozaich and husband Robert of North Brook, Illinois; great grandchildren, Coty Strabley, Karl and Kevin Krieger, Amanda Kopaski, Angie Dudley, Jed, Clint and Max Krieger, Sydney and Summer Krieger, Tyler Nettleton and Adrianna Bozaich; sister, Harriett Hanner of Lenexa, Kansas. Dorthy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, George in 1967; 2 brothers, Wallace and Chalmer and great granddaughter, Charlotte Ann Krieger.
