Dorothy Long Roby, 89, of Concordia, Kansas, formerly of Mason City, died Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at Sunset Nursing Home, Concordia. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday at the First United Methodist Church WAYside Chapel, 119 S. Georgia with Rev. Jim Stiles officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue at the church one hour before the service. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church or Hospice of North Iowa. Dorothy was born July 2, 1917 in Mason City the daughter of John and Martha (Winter) Shreckengost. She attended country school during her early years and graduated from Mason City High School in 1935. On January 17, 1937, she was united in marriage to Clyde Long at the First United Methodist Church Mason City. He died in 1970. Dorothy then married John E. Roby, December 29, 1973 in Mason City. He died in 1979. Dorothy moved to Smith Center, Kansas in 1994 to be closer to her family. Dorothy is survived by her children, stepchildren and spouses, Dr. Daryl and Peggy Long of Peru, Nebraska; John Jay ?J.J.? and wife Marsha Long of Winter Haven, Florida; Jonette and Wendell Peterson of Smith Center, Kansas; David and wife Mary Long of Independence, Missouri; and stepson, Jack and wife Pat Roby of Savage, Maryland; 8 grandchildren; 1 step grandchild; 15 great grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, 4 sisters: Fern, Helen, Cleo and Rachel; 3 brothers: Cecil, Howard and Orin.
