Dorothy J. Gordon, 90, of Mason City, died Thursday, August 2, 2007 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Memorial services will be held 10:30 AM Monday (August 6, 2007) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. with Pastor Paul Schaefer officiating. Inurnment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be given to the Dorothy J. Gordon Memorial Fund. Dorothy was born June 25, 1917 in Mason City, the daughter of Will James and Nellie May (Stickney) Hood. She graduated from Mason City High School. Dorothy married Paul R. Gordon on June 15, 1940 in Mason City. Dorothy enjoyed crocheting and making multiple afghans for many people in the area nursing homes. She also enjoyed reading, cooking, and going for long rides. Dorothy found great joy in raising her wonderful children. Dorothy had a trusting knowledge of Jesus Christ and wanted her children and those she loved to come to know Him. Dorothy is survived by her children: Betty Kruger and husband Dewey of Northwood, IA, Janet Smith and her husband LeRoy of Mason City, Susan Trappe of Mason City, Kathryn Foster and her husband Mike of Mason City, Thelma Terrell and husband Chris of Allen, TX, William Gordon and wife Kay of Owatonna, MN, Raymond Gordon and wife Lorraine of Manly, IA, Larry Gordon and wife Linda of Mason City, IA, Lee Gordon and wife Tina of Casa Grande, AZ, Dennis Gordon and wife Chanthy of Mason City, IA, and Kenneth Gordon and wife Nancy of Albert Lea, MN; 38 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Paul in 1981, her parents, two daughters and one son in infancy; two brothers; two sisters; and five grandchildren in infancy.
