MASON CITY: Doris J. Alman, 84, of Mason City, IA, died Friday, March 13, 2015, at the Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, March 16, 2015, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Rev. Sean McRoberts of First United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Monday March 16 at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Doris Alman memorial fund in care of the family. Doris was born July 20, 1930 in Audubon, Iowa to Harold and Gertrude (Kratzer) Rosenkild. She graduated High School in Atlantic, IA, and continued her education at Mason City Jr. College where she met her sweetheart, Rudy. On September 29, 1949, she was united in marriage to Rudolph “Rudy” Alman at the First Christian Church in Mason City. She was a member of the Organ Guild, Matinee Musical, Police Auxiliary, and the YWCA Board. Doris was the organist at several churches along with directing choirs and the Bell Choir. Her career was teaching organ and piano for 56 years. Doris is survived by her children: Kerry (Mike) Halverson, Garner, IA; Scott (Judy) Alman, Mason City; and Barbara (Scott) Smith, Des Moines, IA; 9 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; sister, Rosemary Seidel, Mason City; she is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Rudy, on December 4, 2014.
