Donald J. Tubbesing

Donald J. Tubbesing, 84, of Mason City, died Saturday November 6, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, November 12, 2010 at First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia Avenue with Rev. Jim Stiles officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church or Community Kitchen. Don was born October 1, 1926 in Mason City the son of Jay and Evalyn (Fatland) Tubbesing. He graduated from Mason City High School and Iowa State University. Don served in the United State Navy Air Corp during WW II. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Don married Marilyn J. Brandau March 19, 1949 in Mason City. Don served as President at Mason City Millwork here in Mason City where he worked for 40 years. He retired in 1990. Don was a member of First United Methodist Church, past president of the North Iowa Cyclone Club, North Iowa Builders Exchange, was a National Director of the Sash and Jobbers Association and past director at the Mason City Country Club. Throughout his life, Don served on numerous church boards and committees, was a Phi Kappa Psi at Iowa State University, and former member of the Mason City Rotary Club.
Don is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn Joy Tubbesing of Mason City; children, Dr. Thomas J. (Shari Stewart) Tubbesing of Seattle, Washington, James A. Tubbesing and special friend Dawn Smallfoot of Mason City, and Kathy (Dr. Paul) Lin of Spokane, Washington; 7 grandchildren, Greta, Jill, Laura, and Carmen Tubbesing, Samantha, Kelsey, and David Lin; special cousin, Robert (Holly) McDougall of Minnetonka, Minnesota.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and a son in infancy.
