DonaDel ?Dona? June Clapsaddle, 80, of 1000 N. Eisenhower Apt.#112, died Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday (February 3, 2007) at First United Methodist Church, 119 South Georgia, with Rev. Jim Stiles officiating. Interment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Friday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Dona J. Clapsaddle Memorial Fund, 1428 N. Taft, Mason City, Iowa, 50401. Dona was born on June 17, 1926 in Wesley, Iowa, the daughter of William J. and Edna A. (Fox) Eden. She attended country school in Bingham Township #9, rural Woden until her parents moved to a farm near Kanawha, Iowa. Dona graduated from high school in Kanawha in 1945. Following graduation, she worked at the coffee shop in Britt, Iowa. On November 30, 1946 she married Lyle Clapsaddle. They lived in various areas and in 1952 moved to Mason City raising their three children. After her children became of school age, she began her working career. Her employment years included The Hanford Hotel (Banquets and Eucher Cycle Club), Masters Clinic, and Dr.?s Warren, Fry, and Heston?s Optometry practice. Dona ended her working career as opening Manager of Winslow?s Hallmark Shop in the Southbridge Mall in 1985. Dona has been a member of the Women?s Bowling Association of Mason City for nearly 50 years. Dona also held the position of City Treasurer for 2 years and various League offices for several years. In 1964, Dona and her bowling partner, Shirley Willis, teamed up to bowl in the Inter-National Tournament in Minneapolis where they won the Division III 1st place award. Dona took part in 15 Inter-National Bowling Tournaments in various cities in the United States. She is a 50 year member of the Women of the Moose where she served on various offices and as chairman. Dona was a current member of the Mason City Wa-tan-ye Club where she served as president for two years and on various committees. Dona was also a very long time member of the K.B. Circle of the First United Methodist Church where she and her husband are 50 year members. Dona spent much of her retirement time cooking, canning, reading, and enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dona is survived by her husband Lyle of 60 years, of Mason City; three children, Sherry Schmidtke of Eagan, Minnesota, Gloria Morud and husband Kurt of Brownsville, Texas, William Clapsaddle of Melbourne, Iowa; three grandchildren; Rachelle Mineck of Ely, Iowa, Travis Morud and wife Sheri of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Kimberly Berding and husband Joe of Nora Springs, Iowa; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Carol Sutton and husband Earl of Mission, Texas and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Dona was preceded in death by her parents, William and Edna Eden; brothers, Earl and Lyle Eden; sister-in-law, RoseMary (Eden) Fox and her husband Lewis Fox.
