Dennis A. Christenson

MASON CITY: Dennis A. Christenson, 68, of Mason City, died Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the First Assembly of God Church, 1301 N. Carolina Avenue with Pastor George Ady officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by the Mason City Veterans Association. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue at the church on Thursday one hour before services. Memorials may be directed to the Dennis Christenson Memorial Fund. Dennis was born August 21, 1946 in Mason City, Iowa the son of Merrill and Mildred (Bull) Christenson. He graduated from Mason City High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy where he served for 4 years. Dennis worked for Libby Owens-Ford Glass Company in Mason City for 21 years. He then worked part time for Boxes Unlimited. A few of his interests included playing pool, bowling, cards, occasional trips to the casino, the Minnesota Vikings and spending time with his grandchildren. Dennis is survived by his mother, Mildred Moorehead of Mason City; daughter, Heather Christenson of Willmar, Minnesota; son, Carl Werstein of Lake Mills; 7 grandchildren; siblings, Jerry (Von) Christenson of Mason City, Marcia Schmid and special friend, John Grubbs of Mason City, William (Barb) Moorehead of Mason City, Randy Moorehead of Mason City, Mike (Jeannie) Moorehead of Mason City; friend, Douglas Werstein of Mason City. Dennis was preceded in death by his grandparents, Guy and Bessie Bull; father, Merrill Christenson; step-father, William Moorehead; son, Samuel in infancy and 1 brother, Lawrence Moorehead.
