David Anderson

David C. Anderson, 61, of Mason City, died Thursday, July 5, 2012, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 9, 2012, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with Pastor Kathy Graves of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM on Monday. Memorials may be directed to the David Anderson Memorial Fund, in care of the family. David Carl Anderson was born December 19, 1950, in Mason City, IA, to parents Carroll and Jeanette Mary (Johnson) Anderson. He resided in Mason City most of his life. David served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in June 1977. He was trained in San Diego, CA, served as a corpsman in Great Lakes, IL, and had special duty training in New Orleans, LA. In October of 1982, he was united in marriage to Colleen Brackey and had 1 son, Jeremy David. His first job was with the Mason City Brickyard, from 1969, until their closing in 1975. David worked for Gamble Robinson/Food Services of America for 18 years. Prior to his illness he worked for 5 ½ years at Casey’s General Store. David battled listeria meningitis and had only returned to his home 2 ½ months prior to his passing. Survivors include his son: Jeremy Anderson of Mason City; his mother: Jeanette Anderson; brother: Michael Dean Anderson; and 4 nephews: Lonnie, Brian, Jamie, and Joey Anderson. He is preceded in death by his father: Carroll (Andy) Anderson. The family would like to thank you all for the prayers and encouragement during David’s illness.
