Dale Alan Berneman

December 21, 1958 — April 18, 2016

MASON CITY: Dale Alan Berneman, 57, of Mason City, died Monday April 18, 2016 at his residence. Visitation will be held from 3:00 until 5:00 PM Sunday, April 24, 2016 at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania Ave. Private family funeral services will be held with interment to follow in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Dale A. Berneman Memorial Fund in care of the family.

Dale was born December 21, 1958 the son of Bernard L. W. and Margaret “Peggy” M. (Moore) Berneman in Mason City, Iowa. He attended Mason City Community Schools but later moved to Iroquois, South Dakota where he graduated in 1977 from Iroquois High School. Dale worked at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa for over 25 years.

Dale was an avid football fan and looked forward to watching his beloved Packers play. He was also a Hawkeye and Yankees fan. He was a self-taught “computer guru” who enjoyed building and revitalizing any electronics he found. Dale also favored the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting and watching the stars and constellations. Dale loved reading Steven King and reading and watching documentaries about US History, especially World War I and II. He enjoyed the food at family gatherings and was known to not leave the kitchen. Dale liked to have a cold beer with his friends, had a big heart, a great smile and will be deeply missed.

Those thankful for having shared in Dale’s life include his brother; Bernard "Bill" (Patsy) Berneman, three sisters; Debra (Robert) Tuttle, Cathy (Dale) Rogers, Diane (Bruce) Bonjour, two nephews; Shawn Rockwell, Jason (Dana) Rockwell, two nieces; Karen (Berneman) England (special friend Chris), Hilary True-Carpenter, several great-nieces and great-nephews and faithful companion Asia.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, nephew; Michael Carpenter, great-nephew Hunter True and beloved 4 legged friend Spike.
