Clete Carlson, 81, of 202 South Virginia Ave., died Monday, October 23, 2006 at his home. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Friday (October 27, 2006) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. with the Rev. Tom Christian of the First Congregational Church in Clear Lake officiating. Inurnment will be held at later date. A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday. Memorials may be given to the Clete Carlson fund in care of the family. Cletus V. Carlson was born January 29, 1925 in Murray County, Minnesota the son of Ernest B. and Emma Jane (Kuehl) Carlson. After graduation from high school, Clete enlisted in the Navy where he served 2 years in the South Pacific until he was honorably discharged in 1946. Clete married Aleen Jorgenson April 29, 1949. He later married Lorraine Miller on February 7, 1968. Clete worked for Pabst-Blue Ribbon Distributing in Mason City for over forty years until his retirement in the early 1990?s. Clete enjoyed golfing, and especially loved spending time with his wife, and his family and friends were important to him. Clete had a wonderful sense of humor, was a great storyteller and was known to tell a joke or two. Clete was an active member of the Clear Lake V.F.W., Clear Lake Veterans Memorial Association Honor Guard, Moose Lodge, Eagles Lodge, Elks Lodge #375, and the American Legion. Clete is survived by his wife Lorraine of Mason City; children, Susan Gomez and husband Larry of Texas, Carolyn Wilson of California, and Richard Auck and wife Janyt of Arizona; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Gordon Carlson and wife Elsie; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janet Johnson.
