Carolyne L. Huso, 60, of Mason City, died Monday, December 17, 2012, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Memorial services will be 11:00 AM, on Thursday, December 20, 2012, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Pastor Kathy Graves of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. There will be a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to the Carolyne Huso memorial fund, in care of the family. Carolyne was born at St. Lukes Hospital in Duluth, MN, on December 15, 1952, the daughter of Robert Lee and Esther Bonita (Benson) Smith. At age 9, her family moved to Hampton, IA, where she attended Southside Elementary, Parkside Jr. High, and graduated from Hampton High School with the Class of 1971. Throughout school, Carolyne enjoyed cheerleading – especially for wrestling. Carolyne continued her education at Hamilton Business College. Over the years, Carolyne worked at the Courthouse in Hampton (Board of Health), Franklin General Hospital, and in 1975, she was hired at A.C. Nielson’s in Mason City – where she worked in many departments including: checking, common coding, key punch, receptionist, and personal secretary. When the business closed on November 1, 1990, she was the last one out the door. She also worked part-time at Culligan Water in the early and mid 90’s. On June 7, 1986, Carolyne married Brad Huso at the Winnebago Lutheran Church near Lake Mills, IA. Carolyne loved gardening, fishing, camping, solving puzzles, and playing pool. She also loved crafts – especially candle making. Carolyne was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Carolyne is survived by her husband of 26 years: Brad Huso of Mason City; mother-in-law: Hazel Monson of Mason City, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Mike and Terry Carden of Mesa, AZ. She is also survived by 2 nieces and 2 great nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, and several aunts and uncles.
