Carolyn S. Pringle, 74, of Mason City, IA, died Monday, September 16, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, September 20, 2013, at First United Methodist Church-WAYside Chapel, 119 South Georgia Avenue, with Deacon Renee Smithback officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Carolyn Pringle memorial fund in care of the family. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com. Carolyn was born on March 11, 1939, in Mason City, the daughter of Nicholas A. and Kathryn (Riehm) DeWilde. She received her education in the Mason City public school system. She excelled in instrumental music achieving Iowa All State band and orchestra recognition where she was selected as 1st chair in the band her senior year. She continued her education at Mason City Junior College and Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, IA. She spent a few years as a secretary for Prudential Insurance Company and followed with a career as a legal secretary for Morris Laird and James Heiny at the Laird Law Firm for 33 years. She met her husband while both were performing in the Mason City Municipal Band. Jerry and Carolyn were married December 30, 1961. They enjoyed summer activities at Clear Lake and especially an annual fishing trip to Northwestern Ontario, Canada for 54 consecutive years. Carolyn is survived by her husband: Jerry Pringle of Mason City; 2 brothers-in-law: Joe Pringle of DeSoto, WI and Jack Pringle and wife Joan of Clinton, IA; sister, Verna Clark of Custer, SD; 1 sister-in-law: Sandy DeWilde of Clear Lake; her nieces and nephews: David Pringle, Dan Pringle, Darcy Buege and husband Derek, Dr. Jason DeWilde, Tammy Kroc and husband Dan, Jason Pringle and wife Julie and Josh Pringle. She is also survived by numerous great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and 1 brother: Tom DeWilde.
