Carlton 'Jack' Freudenberg

Carlton “Jack” Freudenberg, 79, of Mason City, died peacefully on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at home, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, November 9, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Pastor Kathy Graves officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Mason City Veterans Associations. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue at the church one hour prior to services. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, Hospice of North Iowa, or Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank. Jack was born May 1, 1933 in Mason City the son of Carl and Charlotta (Davison) Freudenberg. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1951 then attended Mason City Junior College. Jack served in the US Army from March of 1953 until February of 1955 attaining the rank of Corporal. Following his discharge from the Army, he returned to Mason City. He married Marlene Newgard September 30, 1956 in Manly. Jack worked in the office at Northwestern States Portland Cement Company for 42 years. He retired in 1994. Following retirement, he volunteered at Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank and worked part-time for Baker Floral. Jack was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Some of his interests included yard-work, traveling, family vacations and enjoying sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes. Jack is survived by his wife, Marlene of Mason City; son, Doug (Anna) Freudenberg of Mason City; daughter, Dawn Wright of Golden Valley, Minnesota; 4 grandchildren, Jeremiah, Austin, Macie, and Jasmine Freudenberg; sisters, Barbara (John) Repp of Mason City, Judy (Lee) Lloyd of Lebanon, Oregon; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann (Dennis) Peterson of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Mary Ann Newgard of St. Joseph, Missouri; several nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law, Mildred and Severt Newgard; brother-in-law, Don Newgard.
