MASON CITY: Betty Lou Alexandres, 84, of Mason City, died Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Memorial services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Pastor Kathy Graves, Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will take place in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Betty Lou Alexandres Memorial Fund. Betty was born March 24, 1930 in Mason City the daughter of Ray and Pearl (Runyon) Fulk. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1948. Betty married Richard B. Alexandres October 17, 1948 in Mason City. Betty was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother and devoted her life as a homemaker caring for her family. When the children were gone, she spent over 25 years and over 3,000 hours volunteering her time to the Mercy Auxiliary at Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa. Betty enjoyed entertaining business associates with Alexander Technologies and traveling through out the world. She especially enjoyed family, Sunday afternoon drives with her sister, gardening, reading, cooking (especially at holidays), and spending time relaxing at her home on Clear lake in the summers. Betty’s family always loved her wonderful potato salad on the 4th of July in Clear Lake and her green jello salad at Christmas. Betty took great pride in her home decorating and decorating her delicious sugar cookies at Christmas. From her travels in Europe, Betty also had a very extensive German Hummel collection that she took great pride in and generously shared with her family later on. Betty is survived by her children, Steven (Vernell) Alexandres of Mason City, Karen Alexandres of Omaha, Nebraska, Jim (Ann) Alexandres of Salina, Kansas and Jon (Leanne) Alexandres of Tampa, Florida; 12 Grandchildren, Kristi Pfeifer, Kevin Alexandres, Tressa Slater, Ryan Gourley, Travis Gourley, Anna Gourley, Mark Gourley, Jay Alexandres, Ashley Schrage, Michelle Alexandres, Zach Alexandres, and Eric Alexandres; 2 step grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Elaine (Dave) Dunn of Mason City; 1 sister-in-law, Joyce Toppin of Clear Lake and several nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, Walter Fulk, 1 sister, Hazel Krell and brother-in-law William Krell.
