Bernice B. Buhr, 82 of Mason City died Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at Mercy Medical Center ? North Iowa. Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, May 22, 2004 at St. James Lutheran Church, 1148 ? 4th Street SE with Pastor Paul C. Nelson officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Bernice B. Buhr Memorial Fund. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. on Friday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania Avenue. Bernice B. Bartz was born January 21, 1922 the daughter of Mike and Minnie (Johnston) Bartz in New Hampton. She attended school in New Hampton and graduated from New Hampton High School in 1940, and then graduated from Hamilton?s Business School. Bernice Bartz was united in marriage to Roger W. Buhr Sr. on October 16, 1942 in Mason City. She was employed by Takin Brother?s Trucking Company as a secretary, retiring after 24 years of service. Bernice was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed fishing, shopping and visiting her friends. Bernice also enjoyed her occasional gambling trips. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Kirstein and husband Jerry of Ankeny, Iowa; son, Roger W. Buhr Jr. and wife Jeanne of Mason City; six grandsons; two great grandsons; one great granddaughter; many nieces and nephews; brother, Harold Bartz and wife Sue of Elberon, Iowa; sister, Mary Kautzer and husband Al of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin; brother, Michael Bartz and wife Alice of New Hampton; sisters-in-law, Arlene Berrie of Mason City, Lois Turkal and husband Frank of Lancaster, California; brother-in-law, Stan Johnson of Mason City. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents and husband Roger in 1988.
