Arletta L. Aspland, 84 of Mason City, died Saturday, November 22, 2008 at the Heritage Care Center. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday (November 25, 2008) at First United Methodist Church, 119 South Georgia Ave. with Rev. Jim Stiles officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Vernon Township Cemetery, rural Burchinal, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Monday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Memorials may be given to the Arletta L. Aspland Memorial Fund. Arletta was born November 13, 1924 in La Crosse, WI, the daughter of C. Walter and Anna (Bronner) Becker. She graduated from Mason City High School and also graduated from Hamilton School of Business later in life. She was married to Carl I. Aspland on December 23, 1943 in Mason City, Iowa. She worked as a secretary with the SteamFitters Union for 10 years, retiring in 1995. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed camping, traveling, sewing, crocheting, gardening and taking care of her home. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Arletta is survived by her daughter, Shirley Roush of Mason City; son, Larry Aspland and wife Sharon of McHenry, Illinois; five grandchildren, Stormi Miller and husband Joel of Des Moines, Shawn Roush and wife Christina of Des Moines, Stephen Roush and wife Jennifer of Mason City, Joshua Aspland and Samantha Aspland; seven great-grandchildren, Samantha Brown, Jodi Ellsworth, Cara and Jared Roush, Zachary Hayliegh and Trinity Roush; great great grandchild, Michelle Brown; sister, Arlene Becker
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Carl in 2007; and four brothers.
